Altidore earns 100th USMNT cap in friendly against Serbia
Welcome to the century club, Jozy Altidore.
The 27-year-old Toronto FC forward earned his 100th career appearance for the U.S. men’s national team on Sunday, becoming the 17th player in the team’s history to do so. On his memorable night, Altidore also became the second-youngest player to reach 100 caps, behind Landon Donovan.

The milestone came at Qualcomm Stadium as Bruce Arena embarked on his second tenure as manager of the Stars and Stripes, starting Altidore up top with a five-man midfield behind him in support.
“It was my dream as a kid to represent the United States and play on the biggest stages against some of the best players in the world, and to have done that over this span and have that culminate to one game like this is exciting,” Altidore said before the match, according to ESPN FC.
“I’m excited to reach that milestone.”
Altidore began his international career against South Africa in November 2007, earning a call-up from then-manager Bob Bradley for the Nelson Mandela Challenge Cup just days before turning 18 years old, substituting on for Clint Dempsey in the 65th minute. Altidore notched his first international goal three months later in a friendly against Mexico at Reliant Stadium.
He has since scored a further 36 goals, bringing his total to 37 in 99 appearances.
