Stage 1 of the 2016 MLS Re-Entry Draft has now come to a close, with three teams selecting one player each from the available list of 41 in an effort to bolster their respective rosters.
Orlando City and the Seattle Sounders each added new options to their respective goalkeeping ranks, with the Lions picking up former Chicago Fire shot-stopper Patrick McLain and the Sounders choosing a former player of its own in Bryan Meredith, who was last with the San Jose Earthquakes.
The Houston Dynamo made just one selection in Stage 1 of the draft, opting to select former Sounders defender Dylan Remick with the second overall pick.
Remick can now join the Dynamo under the terms of his 2017 contract option, which the Sounders declined four days ago.
Stage 2 of the draft allows teams to renegotiate contracts with selected players, and that is when the majority of selections are traditionally made. The second stage of the draft will take place next Friday.
