Chicharito could use famous hypnotist to snap goal drought
Bayer Leverkusen and Mexico forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez may resort to hiring celebrity hypnotist and magician John Milton in order to end his goalless spree that reaches back to Oct. 1 in all competitions.
The usually bright spark up front has been reduced to a dwindling flame since scoring six goals in four matches for Leverkusen between Sep 17. and Oct 1.
“(Hernandez) is one of the best goalscorers in the history of the Mexico national team,” Milton told ESPN FC’s Raza Deportiva. “Right now he is in a rut – a scoring drought and definitely some type of trauma that is not letting him do what we know he does well.”
Milton said he’s no wizard, but he can help Chicharito rid his mind of any anomalies that may be impacting his performance on the field.
“Hypnosis does not work miracles, what it does is focus him and clean out garbage so that he can do what we know he does well,” the hypnotist explained.
Chicharito would not be the first striker to seek the help of Milton, as France forward Andre-Pierre Gignac enlisted his services to snap his goal drought last month.
Through sheer coincidence – or possibly a touch of magic – Gignac went on to break his 862-minute drought with a hat trick against Pumas in Mexican league cup action on Nov 27.
But that was just the start – the story gets even crazier.
The Tigres forward has scored in every game he has played since snapping his drought, with goals in consecutive games against Leon in the two-legged domestic cup tie.
Milton said if he does get in contact with Hernandez, he would not reveal any personal information for reasons concerning confidentiality, but would love to help the ex-Real Madrid talent.
“If contact is made or any kind of interview with him is done, I cannot talk about it,” Milton said. “If (we end up doing a therapy session), I am in the best disposition to help whoever I want – to improve any psychological, psychosomatic, or emotional problems.
“With pleasure, if (Chicharito) looks for me I’ll get on the boat,” he explained.
Halloween has long passed, but this may not stop Chicharito from harnessing the supernatural to help him score a goal.
