Club Brugge has completed the signing of United States national team goalkeeper Ethan Horvath from Molde, after he agreed on a four-and-a-half year contract in northwest Belgium.

There had been long-term interest from Brugge in the 21-year-old, who’s widely lauded as his country’s future between the sticks.

The transfer marks a considerable step-up for Horvath, from a side that finished fifth in last season’s Norwegian Tippeligaen, to an outfit that regularly appears in European competitions while dominating domestic matters.

Horvath made his international debut for the U.S. with a clean sheet in October’s 2-0 friendly win in Cuba, and will provide immediate competition to veteran Ludovic Butelle at Brugge.
